WHAT IS APPLE CARPLAY?

Apple CarPlay is a user interface designed by Apple specifically for vehicles. It displays applications from your phone onto the built-in display of your vehicle dash.

HOW DOES CARPLAY WORK?

CarPlay works by connecting your phone to your in-car entertainment system via USB cable or a wireless connection. Your phone will transmit the CarPlay interface to your vehicle’s display, which allows you to control it through your vehicle’s factory fitted entertainment controls.

WHAT APPS ARE AVAILABLE WHEN USING CARPLAY?

CarPlay is able to support most common applications. This includes most messaging apps such as iMessage and WhatsApp, and most music apps such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music and Radio apps. CarPlay also supports most navigational applications such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze.

HOW MUCH DATA IS USED WHEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO OR SPOTIFY VIA CARPLAY?

CarPlay is able to support most common applications. This includes most messaging apps such as iMessage and WhatsApp, and most music apps such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music and Radio apps. CarPlay also supports most navigational applications such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze.

DO I NEED FACTORY NAVIGATION TO USE WAZE, GOOGLE MAPS AND APPLE MAPS?

No. A key benefit of retrofitting CarPlay into your car is that it will effectively upgrade ‘non-navigation;’ vehicles to become ’nav-equipped’.

DOES CARPLAY REPLACE MY EXISTING SYSTEM?

No, the retrofit CarPlay system works in conjunction with your vehicle’s existing entertainment system, and effectively acts as an ‘add-on’ to said system.

Does CarPlay support both Apple iOS and Android devices?
